Prenatal Yoga DVD and Video Reviews

"I just wanted to say thank you so much for your wonderful class. I have really learned a lot and I was so happy I got to be with other pregnant woman to discuss our tough times and our good times. I was always happy and relaxed when I left your class. " ~ Sarah Arellano

I am frequently asked about good prenatal yoga DVDs (and/or prenatal yoga videos) that my students can use to practice at home. Below are a couple of recommendations.

I receive no compensation for these reviews. I just put them up to be helpful for my students or women who aren't able to make my prenatal yoga classes.

There are a lot of prenatal yoga DVDs out there, so feel free to find your own! I haven't run across any "bad" ones. Pregnancy is such a wonderful and unique time in a woman's life that usually someone making an instructional prenatal yoga DVD knows and respects that.

Unless stated otherwise, you can buy any of these from Amazon.com.

Dr. Christine Anderson's Dynamic Prenatal Yoga
This is a great DVD. It has poses and movements in it that I have never seen anywhere else yet also includes more common prenatal yoga poses. Most of the poses are Iyengar based, which means it will be more like our prenatal yoga classes than other DVDs.

Dr. Anderson gives excellent instruction during the DVD, modifications depending on trimester, and it's easy to follow. It's interesting yet also relaxing. I highly recommend it. You can buy it through her website www.kidchiropractic.com or through Amazon.

Prenatal Yoga with Shiva Rea
Shiva Rea is a well-known teacher who writes for Yoga Journal and has several yoga videos. Her Prenatal Yoga DVD features women pregnant in each trimester so that you can easily see the modifications. It's a calm, relaxing, well-produced DVD.

The New Method: Baby & Mom Prenatal Yoga
by Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa

Gurmukh is one of the most famous prenatal yoga teachers. She lives in the L.A. area, so lots of stars end up in her classes. Her DVD is excellent and is taught in the Kundalini style of yoga. There's not a lot of holding of poses, rather more movement and concentration on breathing. It's an excellent DVD set in a beautiful studio in a large class of pregnant women.

Crunch Yoga Mama - Prenatal Yoga
Crunch Yoga Mama includes all the standard prenatal yoga poses with some energizing music in the background.

There was a green branch hung with many a bell
When her own people ruled this tragic Eire;
And from its murmuring greenness, calm of Faery,
A Druid kindness, on all hearers fell.
